Now, anyone who raps fashion with me for anything longer than 30 seconds knows that when it comes down to it, Karl Lagerfeld at the helm of Chanel is my ultimate true obsession...I have dreams of meeting him someday, working under him, etc. You know, all the absurdly large aspirations I harbor, I figure why bother dreaming if it's not big? This Cocomaton ad campaign is particularly lovely, and made my heart twinge. Love love love.

Oh, Karl.
Seriously. If you don't get the references in this then you need to find ways to educate yourself on Jane Birkin, Mick and Bianca Jagger (perhaps you've seen their GORGEOUS offspring at least? Georgia Jagger?), the seventies and all it's glorious excess, and oh yeah-CHANEL. I am stunned, stuttering, floored. Karl Lagerfeld gets all that is good frighteningly well. He's a true genius, in my opinion. Go watch it here.

The Outsider Is The Warrior For My Soul

Thanks Megan. Phenomenal, and I mean, PHENOMENAL article. Read it. You'll be a slightly better version of yourself if you do. I have to cite the Marchesa Luisa Casati as an absolutely massive inspiration for me. She was so passionate about her self expression that she invited ridicule, horror, shock, and adoration. This is what we should be striving for: truly being ourselves, no matter how ugly, messy, or completely alien to others we may be. The outsider (as an archetypal figure) is always the martyred icon of future generations. Her most infamous and delicious quote: "I want to be a living work of art!" REAL style icons.
